Resumen. Que la historia la hacen las grandes personalidades, que los hechos que se mencionan en los libros están protagonizados por esas figuras,
que gracias a sus cualidades sobresalientes son las constructoras de la historia y que estas características las colocan muy por encima del resto de la
humanidad son ideas recurrentes en la mente de los adolescentes, de algunos maestros y profesores, tanto como del imaginario social de nuestros días.
Esta situación la recoge la literatura especializada de didáctica de la historia y la hemos palpado en la práctica de la docencia en países hispanoaméricanos, lo que ha generado las reflexiones que compartimos en este trabajo.
Los problemas derivados de esta situación son de diversa índole pero, en especial, hemos estudiado aquéllos que afectan a la dimensión actitudinal del
escolar. Se observa una automarginación del proceso social, como una ausencia de compromiso con el protagonismo histórico, con la consecuente disminución de su autoestima y con el hecho a no creer en la historia escolar: él no es capaz de hacer historia, porque no posee las grandes cualidades de
las personalidades que han sido llamadas para esa misión.

Summary. The idea that history is shaped by great figures who are the protagonists of the deeds registered in books and who, thanks to their outstanding qualities, are the builders of history, and that these characteristics place them high above the rest of humanity, is recurrent in the minds of
adolescents, of some teachers and professors and is part of the social imagery nowadays. This is a situation gathered by the literature specialised in
the History Education that we have experienced in the teaching practice of countries in Latin America, which has led to the reflections that we share
in this paper.
The problems derived from this situation belong to different classes, but we have studied specially those affecting the attitudinal dimension of the
students. There we notice a self-detachment from the social process, something like a lack of compromise with historic protagonism that results in a
decrease of their self-esteem and leads them not to believe in history: they are incapable of making history because they lack the great qualities of the
people who have been called for this mission.
